04/08/2008 - Well, let's hope the last snow has fallen. The
leftover leaves are being raked up and put to the curbside and lots of
"treasures" are to be found during our Spring cleaning outdoors!
At Simple Style, I continue to look for "treasures" for you! The
organic cotton tees and capris are now here. These are nice
everyday wear. Pair the tee with jeans or shorts for the weekend.
The capris are lightweight and natural colored with elastic waist
- great for the lake, around the house or just because. I
continue to bring in new handbags that are designed and manufactured by
HandBag Love out of California. These are great quality leather
look bags at low prices. Coming in soon are new summer satiny pjs
- short sleeve, button-up tops with tap pants in sizes small to 3X.
Also arriving soon is a 100% organic cotton nightshirt - one size
fits all.
...and more! I've been ordering merchandise almost weekly so
there has been plenty of new items for your browsing pleasure.
Earth Day is April 22nd and I will be giving out FREE disposable bamboo
towelettes with every purchase on Monday and Tuesday 04/21-04/22, while
supplies last!
Next time you're in Corning stop by to say hello. I'll be opening on Sundays from Noon-4pm after Memorial Day.
Be safe and enjoy the Spring - showers and all!

- I can't believe it's been a month since I've written in the
blog page. Februrary is now past and March has come in like a
lion! Our resident window designer, Ernie has finished the
windows for Easter/Spring - and they look wonderful! It may be
cold and dreary outside but it is definately like Spring at Simple
Style. I've been working on inventory and now have some of the
Spring items available. There are still a few Fall/Winter items
on sale at very low prices and these will be moved out in the next week
or so to make room for more Spring/Summer apparel.
The bamboo tees are popular and I've received the 2nd shipment.
They come in aqua, black and brown. I will also be ordering
100% organic cotton tees made in the USA. The cotton is
grown and ginned in Texas, then shipped to North Carolina for spinning.
The yarn is knitted, finished and sewn in the Carolinas.
I received a copy of the organic certificate from the Texas
Department of Agriculture for these products. These quality tees
are heavyweight and very affordable.
There are a couple of events coming up soon - 04/04-06 is the 6th
annual Corning, NY Glass Sale and 05/03 is a new event, "Rediscover
Corning". See the Events & News page, for more details.
Take care and I hope to see you all soon.

- Well, Super Bowl Sunday is over and the NY Giants pulled it off!
It was the first Super Bowl I actually took an interest in -
maybe because I was working on the computer while I was
watching/listening to the game. Anyway, the last 4 seconds of the
game were exciting! The Giants celebrated their win twice in 4
seconds!
Super
Bowl Fever was also successful for me. I had many ladies stop in
to shop - some were friends I hadn't seen in a while so it was a great
day for me. My husband, Tony also helped out. We did put up
the tailgate and had snacks and bottled water. Several of you
entered the drawing to win skin care products from For Claudia's Sayke.
I would like to announce that Candy Ellison won the drawing -
congratulations, Candy!
Until
next year's Super Bowl ... there is plenty to keep me busy as new
merchandise arrives. Another shipment of jeans is here with sizes
0-16. These are from a world-famous cataloger. Fun lingerie
for Valentine's Day and other Spring items are in so stop in to take a
look! A shipment of Spring moderate wear is scheduled to arrive
this week so I'll keep you posted on when these items will be available.

- It's a cold day today but I'm busy inside marking down the winter
items to make way for Spring. I'm really excited about some of
the new merchandise coming in - handbags that are different yet
classic; lingerie that is fun yet practical; and bamboo! Yes,
it's true, clothing made of bamboo! A fellow merchant clued me in
on this when I mentioned organic clothing so I started looking around
the internet and found several places across the country that
manufacture and sell all types of products made of bamboo. So,
naturally I ordered a couple of shirts, one of 100% bamboo and another
of 70% bamboo, 25% organic cotton, 5% spandex. They are so soft
and durable - you have to see and feel this clothing to believe it.
I now have short sleeved crew neck tops and 3/4 sleeve v-neck
tops in stock, along with natural crew socks of 95% bamboo, 5% spandex.
And they are all priced below suggested retail.
Ladies,
I'm open on Super Bowl Sunday from 11-4 pm and will have mega sales on
winter items. I'll have tailgate snacks and a drawing for natural skin
care products. There will be 12 other merchants in the Gaffer
District participating on this day with discounts, free stuff, snacks,
etc. so if you need a break from the Super Bowl party preparations come
on down to Corning and see what's going on! You'll still have
time to make kick-off at 6:18 pm.
Valentine's
Day is fast approaching so let your guys know they can stop in to check
out the lingerie and skin care products. I have gift bags of
chocolate soap & chocolate lip balm - 100% calorie-free!!!
These are packaged in pink organza bags detailed with ribbon and
gift tag - ready for gift giving.
Foxcroft
blouses & polo shirts for Spring have arrived - these are wonderful
quality tops and are becoming popular. I continue to expand the
Vanity Fair line & recently received another shipment.
Don't
forget Cabin Fever on 02/08 - I'll be open 'til 9pm handing out Mardi
Gras necklaces. I won't have wine tasting at this event but there
will be many merchants who will have it.

- Now that the rush of the holidays is over and you're settling in to a
normal routine again did you notice we now have a few more minutes
of daylight?! Yahoo! This is the time of year I take special
notice of each day as we gain that additional daylight.
Market
Street is buzzing today with people as the temperature reaches 61°
at 4:00 pm ET. And, it's a great day for the City to start their
tree beautification project. That's right - today starts the
3-year tree maintenance process as Market Street and Bridge Street get
their trees pruned. This year the arborist will trim for the
safety and health of the trees, removing all hazardous, dead and
diseased wood. So, if you're coming in to Corning and want to
stop by Simple Style don't forget the parking lots on Tioga Avenue,
Denison Parkway, and the parking garages, as there may be times some of
the street parking could be blocked off for the workers.
To
keep a mix of merchandise for everyone I will continue to introduce new
product lines at Simple Style. However, I will maintain a core
merchandise level of overstocks in moderate and high-end apparel in
familiar name brands. I'm expanding the Vanity Fair and Foxcroft
apparel this Spring, and new items will be coming in over the next few
weeks. I'm also adding new items in the skin care products from For Claudia's Sayke.
These products are really catching on - people who have used the
products are coming back for more - even the guys are loving the Clove
Shaving Soap!
I will update this page as often as possible, especially as new items arrive. Take care and enjoy life!
